Types of Services Offered
There are a number of terms to describe the type of work I do--counseling, therapy, psychtherapy. The term is not that important. What is important are the positive results you are looking for, whethe that be relief from sadness and worry, a greater sense of self-undertanding, or a deeper connection with those you love. Sometimes difficulties like these are best handled individually, sometimes as a couple, sometimes as a family. Here are the therapy and counseling services I provide.
Adult Individual Therapy
If sadness, hopelessness, fear, or worry are keeping you from enjoying or finding satisfaction in your life, I can help you to understand what is happening and to find a way forward. For more information on depression and anxiety, click here.
Couples Therapy and Marriage Counseling
Many couples feel they argue endlessly and to no purpose or that they cannot communicate with each other. They find their sex lives unsatisfying, and there may even be issues of infidelity and betrayal. I often work with couples who experience these and other problems, such as separation and divorce, or midlife cirisis issues, especially after grown children have let the home. Grief and Loss Counseling
I help clients to accept the reality of their loss and to go through the process of grieving. That process includes how such a loss changes us and how in our struggle to come to terms with it, we must discover again who we are. Click here to learn more about how I can help you.
Therapy for Schizophrenia and Psychosis
Experiences such as auditory and visual hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, and a loss of contact with reality can be frightening and confusing for the sufferer and for his or her family. I work with both in dealing with this especially heartbreaking illness. For more information, click here.
Therapy for LGBT
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender people deal with many of the same problems faced by heterosexuals, but they also have issues specific to their sexual orientation. I work with clients who face homophobia, who wish to come out, who have been rejected by their families, or who struggle with partner relationship problems. Grief over the Loss of a Pet
Pets add such joy and comfort to our lives. We love them, and we can feel their love for us, sometimes even more than we feel the love of people. That's why the loss of a beloved pet can be so devastating and leave us feeling sad, lonely, and empty. Just as with the death of a famly member or friend, the loss of a pet often needs to be talked through, so that we can come to terms with how our lives have changed because of that loss, and so that we can see our way forwarrd through the pain.
